How it works

Do you need a face to face tutor but find the whole 1-2-1 setting a bit intimidating? Or perhaps you just prefer the idea of learning alongside a buddy? Maybe bouncing ideas off a peer in a similar educational stage to you is appealing? Or maybe you have a peer already lined up whom you would like to share sessions with?

Whatever your preferences, paired learning may be arranged. Finding a suitable peer to learn alongside is a pre-requisite to this style of tuition being offered and sustained. After a FREE initial 1-2-1 assessment of your skills and goals, I can keep an eye out for a suitable pairing or we may discuss 1-2-1 sessions.

As with VIP 1-2-1 tutoring, the process to begin paired tutoring sessions is relatively simple:

1. Book your FREE initial assessment session with me to meet and discuss educational aspirations.
2. I will assess strengths, weaknesses and goals. In order to begin paired tutoring a suitable peer must be found (someone with similar aims/ ability to yourself) – this will either be offered, else other arrangements (such as 1-2-1 tutoring) will be discussed.
3. We find a mutually convenient time to commit to regular tutoring.
4. Book your regular session(s) with me.
5. Begin to progress towards your English GCSE goals.

What you may both expect…

Exploration of how you both work!

I will take the time to get to know you and your peer! I will listen to your worries, aims and explore your current attainment in English. You can expect to receive an analysis of your current skills from your work to date and subject knowledge. I’m interested in how you think, study, retain information and whether you actually enjoy studying English. Every student is different and here I can work out how you learn best and how best to teach you both.



Continuous dialogue

As your English tutor, I will ensure all teachers and parents are agreed on the best objectives to help both of you. That means liaising closely with them and any other experts currently assisting you both in your goal to pass GCSE English. The best exam candidates are the result of a wealth of expertise! I work closely with all parties to ensure the best curriculem and tailored lessons to meet the needs of my students.



Key to knowledge gaps!

With years of classroom experience, multiple degrees and a passion for English – I have a wealth of expertise to impart to you and your peer on a weekly basis. Whether it is simple essay writing techniques, de-coding Shakespeare or even practising your speaking and listening topic, my expertise will ensure you make progress and provide you both with the key to fill in any gaps in your subject knowledge!



You’re a pair, but you’re both individuals. To master the subject as a pair, you’ll receive regular, constructive feedback from me and each other to enable you both to shine. Weekly homework tasks and detailed marking ensure both students are aware of how they are doing and what they may need to do to improve. The combination of this feedback with paired collaboration result in happy, empowered students.
